Reasons for Variation in Photography Session Length
Newborn Sessions
- Sleeping Patterns: Newborns typically need to sleep frequently, and capturing them in peaceful, sleepy poses can take time.
- Feeding and Comforting: Photographers often need to pause for feeding or comforting the baby, extending the session duration.
- Preparation Time: Setting up the environment for a newborn shoot, including props and lighting, can require significant preparation time.
Children's Portraits
- Attention Span: Young children may have a short attention span, leading to more breaks and requiring time to engage them.
- Activity Levels: Kids can be energetic and require time to settle down or get into a cooperative mood for the shoot.
- Location Versatility: If the shoot involves moving to various locations, it can add to the overall duration.
High School Seniors
- Styling and Outfit Changes: Senior sessions often include multiple outfits and styling changes, which can lengthen the session.
- Conceptual Elements: Seniors might want to incorporate unique themes or hobbies, requiring extra time for setup and poses.
- Individual Choice and Input: Seniors may have more preference and input in poses and settings, increasing the time spent on each shot.
Family Portraits
- Group Dynamics: Coordinating multiple people can take time, especially with varying comfort levels in front of the camera.
- Variety of Poses: Families often want a mix of posed shots and candid moments, requiring more time to capture the best images.
- Logistics: Arriving at a consensus on locations and positioning can also require extra time, especially with larger families.
